Hey, you seem to know your 240sx stuff really good. I have a newbie question, and I'd feel really stupid if I posted it..So i PMed you instead..
ok...I was reading through almost every 240sx post thwre is on this site..and now I'm pretty confused on the names of 240sx's and all.
What exactly is a sil80? Is it a S13 with a front S14 bodykit piece, and the SR20DET engine? Or am I wrong?
And whats a Onevia? I heard it a few times, but no one explained what it is..And whats the strawberryface converstion?
Also, correct me if i'm wrong on these... A S13 is a pre 1995 240sx, the ones with the popup front lights. A S14 is a 95-98 240sx. And whats a 180sx? it's only in japan, right?
Please help me clear these things up..but if you don't have time you don't have to. Thanks alot for reading this.

And here is what I wrote back

Hey, no problem. Ok I'll answer your questions in the order you asked them.
- A sil80 is a 180SX with a silvia front end. Yes, it came with the SR20DET motor. People in japan that had 180SX's used to swap the front end of the S13 silvia onto their 180SX quite a bit because it looked better they thought and they could get the front end pretty cheap. Nissan Japan actually made a VERY limited production of this car, about 400 to be exact. They made it with the 180SX body and the S13 silvia front end, the same way the drifters were making their cars. Here's a pic of a Sil80.

- A Onevia over in Japan is the Silvia body with a 180SX front end on it. It is the same thing as our S13 240SX coupe here in America.
- The Strawberry face conversion is the S15 Silvia front end on a 240SX. Strawberry face is a companies name who manufactures the S15 silvia front fenders to fit our 240SX so that we don't have to modify the stock metal S15 front fenders to fit our car. Strawberry face got it's name from the japanese word "ichi-go". the word "ichi" is the letter S and "go" is the number 15. so ichi-go means S15. "ichi-go" also translates to the word strawberry in japanese so it's like it's saying S15 face conversion. kinda confusing but do you get it?
-Yes your sort of right on the S13 years. In the US the S13 was made from 1989 to 1994. As the S13 it came as either a coupe, hatchback, and a limited convertable. In 1994 it came only as a convertable. From 1989 to 1990 it came with the single overhead cam KA24E 135hp motor. In 1991 and up it came with the double overhead cam KA24DE 155hp motor. In 1995 they changed the body style and that's when the S14 started. 1995-1996 was the years for the S14. 1997-1998 was the years for the MCS14 which is the same as the S14 except for a new front end including headlights, hood, front bumper. The S14 and MCS14 were also only available as the coupe.
In Japan the years are a bit different. In 1988-1993 they made the S13 Silvia. Keep in mind that the S13 Silvia is the same exact car as our S13 240SX coupe, but the Silvia came with the SR20DET and a different front end (it came with the front end that is on the Sil80 pic I showed you earlier). Also on the same chassis was the 180SX which was made from 1990-1996. The S14 Silvia over there was made from 1994-1999. And of course japan always gets everything better so they got the S15 Silvia from 1999-present.
- A 180SX is Japan's version of our S13 240SX Hatchback (aka fastback). It looks the exact same except the 180SX gets the SR20DET and we get stuck with the KA24(D)E.
I Hope that cleared up all of your questions. If you have anymore then please feel free to PM me again
